Sharing Source Code?

Currently I'm working on an Intranet for the company I work for. Soon there will be another developer to assist with some of this.
How can we collaborate on this? Trying the basic sharing method of copying source to a network share and working from there doesn't work. I get the "Failed to start monitoring changes to PATH" error. Which I know is rights. And no I can't grant rights for the required accounts to the network share (its on a Novell server[no commentsStick out tongue [:P]]).
The other developer will be using Visual Web Express and I use VS.NET 2005.
So what are my options? I guess there's Team Server, but the company would prefer free. Plus I don't think the VWD supports Team Server (right?).

Do you have a copy of SourceSafe? You can still use that with 2005 code, that way each of you works on your local copy, and checks in your changes to SourceSafe.

Hmm. Not sure if I do or not. I may have to dig through some CDs.Confused [*-)]

Or if you have an MSDN subscription, you can download it from Microsoft.
Good luck!
